Overload

Overload is a social workout tracker for lifters to log training, see progress, and stay connected with friends. It is live on the App Store.

Why I built it

I used Google Sheets to track my workouts because I could customize it around how I train. That flexibility was useful, but 1. it didn’t give me a clean way of seeing if I was making progress and 2. didn’t connect me with my friends to see how they were doing in the gym.

Most importantly, I needed something that would tell me “am I actually getting stronger?”

Overload began as the tool I wanted for myself.

What shipped

The finished iPhone app combines flexible workout logging with a social layer built for lifters. People can track sets, reps, weight, cardio, and notes; reuse workout templates; see whether exercises are progressing; and keep training through an offline mode.

Friends can share workouts, tag training partners, follow one another’s progress, and react through likes and comments.

Traction

Overload is live on the App Store. It currently holds a 5.0 out of 5 rating across its first three ratings. My friends and I use it daily - over 25,000 reps have been tracked on overload!
